Equipment through the ages
From 50 years old to cutting edge!
When Rob took on the role as Extreme Weather Sergeant, he was faced with an uphill task, one that was not only uphill, but through snow, into a headwind and then back down through flood water.
The Constabulary had in the weather store some ripstop orange Police jackets that had no thermal properties, and were at the time around 50 years old.
There were some long winter hi-vis jackets mixed in too, which were bulky and had no technical attributes.
A long thought out process has resulted in the team creating a new extreme weather store, with thermal layers, technical coats, micro-spikes and protective helmets.
As a result they can operate for longer in challenging conditions and safer.
